Cabinet Remodeling

So you want to change your kitchen? First before we get started we should figure out just what it is you want changing. Ask yourself:

And really, just include any other grievances you have in that list.

Now that we know what needs changing you should be able to have a clear idea of whether or not you are going to need a total do-over, or just a few minor tweaks to bring out the best in what you already have. The differences some small adjustments can make will surprise you and potentially save you from dozens of headaches and thousands of dollars.

To make additional room in your kitchen you first need to assess the space you already have. In the case of dine-in kitchens there is usually additional wall space available on the opposite side of the main counter. The difference a 12” deep cabinet or even shelving unit can make is quite substantial. Perhaps there is space for additional over head cabinetry or a kitchen island as well.

Islands are a great way to create counter space. If you don’t have room in your kitchen for an Island then you will have to make better use of the space you’re using. A good way to gain an extra square foot or two is to reduce your sink size. The double sink can be reduced to the 1.5 version (one main and one small basin for rinsing) while not sacrificing the styles effectiveness.

Sometimes all your kitchen needs is a few accessory upgrades. New handles and knobs along with upgraded lighting can add that shine you’re looking for. There are lots of great lighting styles out there.

If you need to remodel your kitchen in order to make room for a new appliance then you need to consider what kind of connections does it need (Stove plug? Water?) and also how do you plan on making up for the lost space with the addition of the new appliance.
