Nothing beats the enjoyment of a cold one after a hard day's work. With that being said, nothing is worse than coming home with a six pack only to discover that your drink of choice is topped with non twist off caps. There lies the importance of bottle openers so make sure you have one handy at all times.

Bottle openers are inexpensive utensils with one purpose - to open bottles. Back when soft drinks and pop were distributed in glass bottles openers were more prevalent but since the emergence of plastic bottling the focus has been shifted to beer. Bottle openers really only have one use any more as a result but no home should be without them.

Bottle openers tend to come in a wide variety ranging from purely functional to novelty openers. The functional ones tend to be a single piece of metal shaped into an opener. Many are given away for free by brewing companies and often bare the logo of a particular brew. Others will display a particular sponsorship or affiliation.

Novelty bottle openers often display an image or have some sort of electronic component that lights up or emits a sound. These bottle openers tend to cost a bit more than the standard units but are often comedic or collectable in nature.

Because bottle openers are so inexpensive there is not much to worry about when shopping for one. Simply find one that you like that looks of and if the price is right go for it. Depending on how much of a drinker you are or how often you are serving guests consider one with a higher durability.
